What’s happening in the world of campervans February 2021

February witnessed the unveiling of some interesting campervan concepts and a design upgrade on one of the most popular British-manufactured motorhome ranges. There have also been some changes made to dates of several campervan and motorhome shows, so read on to see what’s been happening in the world of vans over the last month.

Swift Reveal All-New Look for Edge Range

February saw British motorhome manufacturer Swift launch a new exterior aesthetic for their flagship Swift Edge motorhome. The 466 model of the Edge range is receiving a major specification upgrade, several refinements to the interior and a new family-focused layout.

The family layout is mostly based around the addition of two large bunk beds at the rear of the van, with the lower bunk able to be lifted to increase storage space while in transit. The interior refinements include removable carpets and a fly-screen for the door, plus technological additions in the form of a digital microwave and a television aerial. The spec upgrades now feature cruise control, DAB radio, reversing sensors and heated wing mirrors.

The upgraded 466 model became available to buy in February and has an on-the-road price of £51,665.

Date Changes for Warner’s Shows

The organisers of the Warner’s motorhome and campervan shows have decided to push back some of the dates for 2021.

A spokesperson for Warner’s Shows said of the date change: “In order to be able to offer you all that your much anticipated Warner’s Shows are loved for and to follow Government guidance and present Covid-19 secure and safe sites, we have worked with the venues and pushed our season start date back a little.”

The events affected include the Yorkshire Motorhome and Campervan Show in Harrogate, which will now happen from the 28th to the 30th of May. Also affected is the National Motorhome and Campervan Show in Peterborough, now scheduled for 11th to 13th of June. Finally, the Southern Motorhome and Campervan Show in Newbury has been pushed back to July 9-11.

Visitors who already bought tickets for the original dates will automatically have their tickets transferred to the new dates, with the tickets due to be sent out in May.

Nissan Unveil Sustainable Campervan Concept

Nissan used February to reveal their fully electric e-NV200 Winter Camper concept. Designed after the e-NV200 Combi, the e-NV200 Winter Camper makes good use of the proprietary electric power-train technology pioneered by Nissan as well as numerous other technologies geared toward saving energy.

The energy-saving tech includes B-mode to enhance regenerative braking and Eco-mode which enables more efficient power consumption. The all-electric camper will also boast a rapid charge capability which will let you gain an 80% battery recharge in under an hour. The on-board 220V power pack will also be rechargeable via a solar panel attached to the roof.

Nissan has also added its new Nissan Camper Technology Luxury Kit that should provide enough comfort and versatility to live self-sufficiently in the wild. These Luxury Kit additions include an integrated kitchen with a fridge, plus insulated glass to maintain comfortable temperatures regardless of the weather outside. Folding beds also allow you to create extra living space while not sleeping.
