What’s happening in the world of campervans this month?

January was a quiet month in terms of new campervan announcements or unveilings, but there was still quite a lot going on to interest motorhome and caravan enthusiasts. Let’s take a look at some of the biggest campervan news from the last month.

New EU Travel Requirements

Campervan owners looking to have a nice socially-distanced getaway in the European Union should be aware that there are new special requirements starting from January 2021.

For starters, there are new passport conditions that must be met in order for you to be allowed entry into EU countries. The first condition is that your passport must have at least six months validity remaining. Secondly, the passport must be less than ten years old, even if there are six months validity remaining.

You probably still won’t need a visa for most countries, certainly if you are not staying for longer than 90 days. However, some border controls may require you to produce proof of your plans to return home as well as enough money for your stay.

The UK driving licence is still accepted in the EU, though paper licences will require an additional International Driving Permit. Green cards from insurers will also be necessary for your vehicle as well as for any towed caravans or trailers. Also check what requirements there are in each country for GB identifying stickers, as they are compulsory in some countries such as Spain.

Check the Government’s Visit Europe website for more details on taking your campervan into EU countries.

A fourth version of the Elddis Buccaneer caravan has been unveiled for the 2021 season. The new premium Buccaneer Bermuda caravan is 8ft wide and superbly specified with a huge host of standard and customisable specifications.

New luxury features include Alde system-integrated underfloor heating and an E&P automatic pneumatic self-levelling system. The lounge will have L-shaped settees with angled backrests and comfy cushions designed with an ActivCare finish to facilitate easy cleaning and wiping. Dark wood furniture and a 32-inch television screen mounted in the wall enhance the luxurious feel.

Performance-wise the Buccaneer Bermuda caravan has twin axles, Al-Ko ATC and a 3004 stabiliser that provide a smooth and stable ride. Security features include Al-Ko Secure wheel locks and a Thatcham S7 Tracker tracking system that comes with a 12-month inclusive subscription.

With state-of-the-art kitchen and bathroom facilities added into the mix of the new Buccaneer, 2021 is off to a great start when it comes to brand new caravans.
